Guy Riddle presents on July 23rd-Understand how you can use Microsoft Dynamics CRM as a business application platform to rapidly build and deploy a wide range of custom business applications.  This meeting is at a special time, 1pm pst.   http://www.xrmvirtual.com/events/CRM_to_XRM

For those of you that have not see this earlier this week Microsoft Dynamics CRM now scales to 50K concurrent users! This new benchmark is strong evidence that Dynamics CRM is the leading CRM solution for the Enterprise and ready for the toughest workloads. I think this benchmark is clear evidence that the scalability of a single instance of Dynamics CRM is now larger than real-world customer requirements. Microsoft working with Intel engineers were able to greatly expand their enterprise benchmark – more than doubling previous benchmarks and achieve scale of 50,000 concurrent users. In addition, the architecture employed during this test cost less than $35K – or less than $0.70 per user, and incorporated new energy-efficient processors that generate up to 30% less power within an IT or datacenter environment. By comparison, an October 2008 performance test for Oracle Siebel Release 8.0 scaled to 14,000 users and 1.6 million daily transactions leveraging Sun hardware that cost more than $150,000. Compared to this benchmark, the Microsoft Dynamics CRM scalability test drove 3.5 times more users and almost 2 times more transactions – while reducing hardware costs nearly 80 percent

Configuring Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 for Internet Facing Deployment using the IFD configuration tool is now included as a topic in the latest release of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 implementation guide.

Steps to setup and configure CRM for IFD:

1) Before running the setup, edit the setup configuration file located in the installation folder and add the following configuration under <CRMSetup><Server>:

<ifdsettings enabled=”true”>

<internalnetworkaddress>[enter the sub net range]</internalnetworkaddress>

<rootdomainscheme>[http / https]</rootdomainscheme>

<sdkrootdomain>[specify the domain for applications that will use methods described in the SDK]</sdkrootdomain>

<webapplicationrootdomain>[specify the domain that will be used for Microsoft Dynamics CRM web application and Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook]</webapplicationrootdomain>

</ifdsettings>

2) For an already installed instance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server, run the IFD configuration tool and follow the wizard.

Please note that before running the IFD configuration tool you must have created the DNS records and made sure that the server is accessible from Internet.

You can disable IFD anytime by running the IFD configuration tool and setting the Authentication Strategy to On Premise.

  • Self-Service Sites: Proactive and Effective

    Join Girish Raja and Ben Riga as they present- More than ever applications built for the web connect customers (or partners, employees, or citizens) directly to systems running behind the firewall. Whether for informational or transactional solutions like customer portals or loyalty program sites, it is imperative that information gathered is acted upon as soon as possible while keeping costs way down. In this session we’ll explore how building on the XRM platform and taking advantage of Windows Azure, Live Services, and SQL Data Services provide a great platform for building proactive self-service web sites that effectively manage the end-user experience.
